"If a man earnestly seeks a righteous life, his first act of abstinence is from animal food."

Day one of veganism was quite revitalizing. It's a very particular and difficult diet, but I'm doing it at the best possible time. We have a vegan chef at each of our dining halls and there's always vegan foods. We even have a vegan frozen yogurt machine! It's easy in college because I don't have to please my parents or cook a separate meal. I'm completely on my own, making my own dietary decisions. This is an easy lifestyle for me considering I was a vegetarian for four years, and I was even a vegan for several months going into my sophomore year of high school. However, I wasn't a good vegetarian or vegan in the past. I did completely abstain from meat and fish, and then animal product during my vegan stage, but I wasn't always very healthy about it. I didn't get enough vegetarian protein and I ate far too many simple carbohydrates-with little to no nutritional value. This time, I plan on eating only food that benefits my body and keeps me alive and healthy.
