Some Headlines

My sleeping patterns are finally starting to regulate themselves again. I feel more well rested and was able to get up at 8:20 AM on a Saturday morning, which is pretty impressive for a college kid. Back when I was getting enough sleep, I was able to get out of bed, no problem, at around 6 AM. Hopefully, I'll be back there soon, because doing that was giving me the extra hours to go to the gym. Speaking of the gym, today is going to be my first day back since my last few times just over a week ago. With determination set in my mind, this will become a daily activity for me once again. God knows, I need it.
This morning, I was reading a few news headlines, as usual, and I saw a few that were interesting. Apparently, the FDA knew that the peanuts and peanut butter they allowed to be shipped out were contaminated. They had failed one of the regulation tests which read they could be contaminated, but instead of waiting for the results of a second round of tests, they released them anyway. According to the report I read, this isn't the first time they've done this and their plants have a very unclean environment. This salmonella outbreak was pretty costly, causing 8 deaths and 575 illnesses in 43 states. Another headline I saw spoke of the 42-year-old Irish marathon athlete, Richard Donovan, who ran 7 marathons on 7 continents in less than 7 days. He did this amazing feat in order to raise money for the crisis in Darfur-a region in the western Sudan. Donovan is from county Galway in Ireland, which is actually pretty close to where my family is from, County Leitrim. Donovan competed in Cape Town, South Africa; Dubai, United Emirates; Santiago, Chile; London, England; Sydney, Australia; and Toronto, Canada; and I believe Antartica.
